Damhnait Gleeson - Industrial Decarbonisation Programme Manager - SEAI

The common thread in my career to date has been an enthusiasm for embracing new challenges by bringing together different domain areas, data streams, collaborative partners and stakeholders to catalyse new initiatives and endeavours. These included managing cross-agency initiatives in the Irish public sector, initiating a major new interdisciplinary collaborative research programme at NASA, creating a new interagency partnership in Spain, and recently catalysing and driving collaborative climate action across the Irish academic system.

I am energised by creating and exploring new ideas and partnerships, sparking collaboratively with others to build up momentum towards implementing change which results in measurable positive impact. I enjoy zooming out to the big picture and determining how disparate actors and systems interact and co-depend. I am impassioned by the need for evidence-based systematic improvements to enhance our responses to global, national and local challenges resulting from climate breakdown. This will require top-down vision and leadership in addition to the catalysis of collaborative agency across all the constituent elements of the system. I am eager to be a part of the solution.
